Warning - Keep off the roads

I can't believe it's over a month since my last posting, the time has just flown by.

Maybe that's the problem with school holidays, they tend to go by so fast and before you know it, your back to school. Although, this year it's my last set of school holidays as I enter my final year at The Gordon Schools.

I've been pretty much frantic over the last month or so with lots of concerts and shows that I've been helping out with on the lighting side. Anything from AC/DC tribute bands to choral societies, its been great fun but a lot of late nights.

Whilst also still keeping on top of my training, it's meant that I've struggled with energy levels in some of the sessions and the races.

This weekend saw another 2 races in the Scottish roller ski championships where I managed to get a 2nd place on Saturday but come Sunday I was dead and only managed 4th when I literally died on the last lap. There was just nothing left in the tank and I know I need to spend some time on one of the most important sides of training which is sleep. Getting in at 12.30 - 2am in the morning does not bode well for a great athletic performance.

Saturday was also my 17th birthday and now, a warning to you all, I can now get out on the roads in a car. Provision licence in hand, so just the small matter of passing my driving tests which I hope to do by Spring next year.

But between now and then, I have to build up for the ski season. It's going to be an important one for me with qualification being the number one priority to ensure I can be available for selection for the European Youth Olympics in Turkey in February next year.

There is a lot of work to do and I have to attend a further 4-5 ski camps in the coming months which are going to be tough. It's also very expensive and with no funding for this level of the sport, means speaking very nicely to mum and dad who have supported me so far.

Then there is the minor thing of exams as well to fit in so overall, the next 6 months are going to be the busiest I've ever been. I'll try to keep up with the blog and let you know about my camps and results from the races - fingers crossed I get what I need and I'll be representing Team GB at the games in Turkey in February.
